On Love - it's an illness!

The quote is “Romantic love is mental illness. But it's a pleasurable one. It's a drug. It distorts reality, and that's the point of it.” by Fran Lebowitz (b. 1950) an American writer and humorist.
There's one more sentence in quote. I took it off because I didn't understand it. It goes "It would be impossible to fall in love with someone that you really saw." Now... what do you make of that?
